Donald Trump has announced a two-week ceasefire on April 7, 2026, just 90 minutes before an 8 p.m. ET deadline for a massive strike. While Trump had earlier threatened on Truth Social that “a whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again,” he decided to “hold off” on the planned demolition of Iran’s power plants and bridges to pursue a last-minute diplomatic offramp.
Although a massive escalation was averted today, the U.S. and Israel have conducted over 15,000 airstrikes since the war began on February 28, 2024, recently targeting petrochemical plants, bridges, and railroads.
